Welcome to Casa Vital
Casa Vital opened on August 20, 2000 by Åge Folkestad, modestly with 5 tables and 11 chairs, and a variety of 5 tapas. Over time, Casa Vital has grown and is now a cultural restaurant with seating for 90 people, on the terrace, in the dining room and in the wine cellar.
Many people refer to Casa Vital as a "miniature cultural center", as we do exhibitions, events, wine tastings and guided tours of the old town of Altea.
The house, dating from around 1850, was built on the medieval wall dating from around 1600, which was demolished in the mid-1800s. The restaurant's wine cellar was excavated by hand and shows the original wall from 1611, which once surrounded Altea.
Here also sleeps the restaurant's artisan wine "Vino Casa Vital" from the Bodega Santa Margarita, in Castilla. It is an artistic project that was first presented on April 15, 2011. It features the work of artist RoaId Tellnes in the creation of the labels for the five wines: white, rosé and three reds: Roble Casa Vital with 5 months of barrel, Barrica Casa Vital with 12 months of barrel and Golden Oro Casa Vital a 12 month monastrell crianza.
In Holy Week of 2016 the owner presented his new project: The Blue Revolution: Azul Mediterráneo, a blue white wine made from Chardonnay grapes. The color is obtained from the skin of the red grape, which is added afterwards. We now have four blue wines; Classic, Dry, Frizzante and Brut Nature following the traditional Brut Nature method, Champenoise.
The restaurant also collaborates with Bodega Antonio Alcaraz in Rioja, and in 2015 we presented two new wines: Age Casa Vital crianza 90% tempranillo and 10% mazuelo and Milenium Casa Vital, author's wine 100% tempranillo with three different French barrels. The latter won a gold medal at the "International Wine Guide 2015". The wine was made to commemorate the restaurant's 15th anniversary in 2015. In December 2020 the owner presented his latest wine Thea, an author's wine with a tempranillo from French oak, from old vineyards, dedicated to his daughter Thea.
All wines can be enjoyed in the restaurant or taken home as a souvenir. Ask your waiter.
Casa Vital has probably the best terrace in Altea, with panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea, Calpe and the Peñón de Ifach.
The terrace is also a privileged spot for spectators of the town's many festivities.
Welcome to Casa Vital, the restaurant where food, art and culture go hand in hand.
A cordial greeting from Åge Folkestad and all of us at Casa Vital.
